SWEENEY: SENATE WILL PASS EMPLOYEE FREE CHOICE ACT

President John Sweeney held a press conference on Tuesday, March 6, from the site of the AFL-CIO's executive council meeting in -- where else -- Las Vegas. He told reporters there that he expects the Senate to follow the House's lead and to pass the Employee Free Choice Act:

"We think that in the end we are going to be very successful in the United States Senate."

At the CPAC convention earlier this month, however, Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) predicted that the E.F.C.A. will meet a different fate when introduced in the Senate.

As reported by blogger Mary Katherine Ham at Townhall, Sen. McConnell eliminated any need to read between the lines when regarding his colleague, Majority Leader Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV), he stated:

"I don't wanna take any shots at Senator Reid. He's got 51 in a body that takes 60 to do anything."

Makes one wonder what role the Ghosts of the Gang of 14 may have in this...
